I kid you not, since becoming more minimalistic, half of my suitcase is toiletries. But don’t worry, it’s a small suitcase! 😀 Here’s what I’m packing these days.
Most importantly, my travel toiletry bag of choice is Mary Kay’s travel roll up bag. It holds a TON of stuff, very efficiently. I can fit everything but my hair dryer in here! It’s genius. Plus, if I’m going on a longer trip and need more room in my suitcase, I can pull the pouches out and cram them into the sides of my suitcase for even more efficient packing! Oh, and my favorite part: it’s machine washable! (more about the bag here)
Here’s how I organize it:
Top pouch: Make-Up.
I keep my makeup kit in this pouch for daily use. So when it’s time to pack, I slap it on the velcro strip and off I go! My minimalist makeup routine (here’s the full how-to and what’s in my kit!) is super versatile, so it’s perfect for traveling. But there’s still extra room in the pouch if I want to bring more!
Second pouch: Skincare
Third pouch: Shower / Hair products
Shower packing is easy since I use a cleansing conditioner (UnWash is my favorite!) on my hair all but 1 day a week. I keep it in this silicone travel bottle that I love! So easy to squeeze out, and easy to refill too! I do keep samples of salon shampoo and conditioner in here just in case my hair needs a deep clean. My deodorant (Lume) and a razor goes in as well (I love Billie). Finally, my hair products consist of a good hair oil, and pomade (yay, pixie!)
Final pouch: Misc.
Minimalist packing has helped me really streamline my weekend work trips, and even vacation packing! When packing for a weekend I can use a small weekender bag, not much bigger than a backpack. For 4-6 days I can use a carry-on sized suitcase! Check out my other Getaway Series below!
